Gangrel reservoir almost full

Dhamtari, Aug 17 (UNI) All sluice gates of Chhattisgarh's largest dam Gangrel have been opened due to increasing inflow into the reservoir courtesy continuous heavy rain in this district of Chhattisgarh.

The gates were opened last night and 21,000 cusecs were being released into the Mahanadi at 1100 hrs today while 18,000 cusecs were flowing into the reservoir whose level is 348.60 m, just 0.10 m below full-tank level.

Water resources department sources said the outflow might be reduced to 15,000 cusecs over the next few hours. Gangrel area recorded 5.4 cm rain overnight.
