Film financier arrested

Chennai, Aug 17 (UNI) Police arrested a city-based film financier on charges of forcibly marrying a minor girl under threat at Udumalpet in Coimbatore District yesterday.

Police said based on a complaint by the girl's parents, a special police party went to Udumalpet and arrested the financier Kovi Kannan. They seized a car, which was said to be used in the crime.

The arrested person was produced before the 18th Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Saidapet, here today, which remanded him to judicial custody, police added.
