Drunk CRPF personnel target civilians
Ambikapur, Aug 17 (UNI) A CRPF head constable has been suspended following a public outcry against inebriated personnel who assaulted civilians and created pandemonium on August 15 at Surajpur in Chhattisgarh's naxalite-affected Sarguja district.
More than a dozen victims, including a retired teacher and sub-engineer, demanded registering of a criminal case against the personnel who were on patrol duty in Surajpur's Odgi area.
A bandh was called in Odgi yesterday and a road was blocked for seven hours. The agitation ended after a CRPF commandant assured that action would be taken against the personnel.
''Head Constable G S Dongra was suspended and investigation is underway,'' said Surajpur's SP R S Nayak.
