DPI holds fast on Lankan issue

Chennai, Aug 17 (UNI) The Dalit Panthers of India (DPI) led by its General Secretary Thol Thirumavalavan today observed a day's fast to condemn the alleged ''atrocities'' of the Sri Lankan Army against the Tamils.

Confederation of France Tamil Bangam President Anand, Tamil Film Actor Manzoor Ali Khan and Film Director Pugazendhi were among those who condemned the attacks, especially the recent bombing of an 'orphanage' at Chensolai in Jaffna.

They sought the immediate intervention of the Centre to ensure the protection of the Tamils in the island nation.
