Deep depression in Bay of Bengal will lash heavy rains
Kolkata, Aug 17 (UNI) Kolkatans today woke up to another bout of cloudy sky and sharp showers as the depression around the coast of Orissa remained unchanged.
"The depression formed in the Bay of Bengal at Orissa coast near Balasore affected several parts of West Bengal lashing heavy rainfall for almost the entire day," said the Met department.
However, in the evening there was a lot of respite for all the devotees, who were eagerly waiting to celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna and celebrated Janmastami amidst few bouts of rainfall.
The continuous rainfall also made the mercury to take a dip to 29.5 degree Celsius with a minimum of 25.8 degree Celsius.
The relative humidity was at 97 per cent, added the weathermen.
They have also warned the fishermen not to venture into the sea due to the inclement weather.
The Metoffice have also made a forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of the state along with the neighbouring states of Jharkahand and Chattisgarh UNI PP BA AKP1151
