Deep depression in Bay of Bengal along with heavy rains
Kolkata, Aug 17 (UNI) Kolkatans today woke up to another bout of cloudy sky and sharp showers as the depression around the coast of Orissa remained unchanged.
''The depression formed in the Bay of Bengal at Orissa coast near Balasore affected several parts of West Bengal with heavy rainfall for almost the entire day (yesterday),'' said the Met department.
However, last evening, there was respite for the Krishna devotees, who celebrated Janmashtami amidst few bouts of rainfall.
The mercury dipped to 29.5 degrees Celsius with a minimum of 25.8 degrees Celsius due to the continous rainfall.
The relative humidity was 97 per cent, added the weathermen.
They have also warned fishermen not to venture into the sea due to the inclement weather.
The Metoffice has also made a forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of the state along with the neighbouring states of Jharkahand and Chattisgarh UNI PP BA AB BS1257
