Da Vinci Code back in HC
Mumbai, Aug 17 (UNI) The film 'The Da Vinci Code' had been released despite all the controversy, but the petition is still pending before the Bombay High Court.
In a related development today a division bench comprising Justices J N Patel and Nishita Mhatre directed the state government to consider the representation made by the petitioner Joseph Dias, General Secretary of the Christian Secular Forum.
The petitioner's lawyer Pradeep Havnur told UNI that while the petitioner awaits the government sanction for prosecution, the court has allowed to register an offence u/s 295 A of the Indian Penal Code that deals with deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs.
