Criminal shot dead in encounter in UP

Allahabad, Aug 17 (UNI) The Special Task Force shot dead a criminal in an encounter in Baghara area under Colonelganj police station here.

Raj Karan, sharp shooter of Ambika Singh Patel's alias Thokia gang, carrying a reward of forty thousand rupees from the Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh governments on his head, was shot dead in an encounter last night.

The STF recovered four hand grenades, a 9 mm pistol, spring field rifle and a large number of live cartridges from his possession.

Raj Karan was wanted in over 22 cases of murder and kidnapping in both the states.
