Coast Guard rescue 8 stranded fishermen
Mangalore, Aug 17 (UNI) The Mangalore Coast Guard have rescued eight fishermen, who were stranded in mid-sea after their boat's engine developed a problem.
According to Indian Coast Coard (ICG) sources, the fishermen ventured into the sea from Mangalore Old Port at noon yesterday.
However, the boat 'Lakshmi' immediately developed engine problem and was at the mercy of tides after their fishing net got entangled in the propeller.
On receiving a message, Coast Guard ship 'Kasturba Gandhi' was pressed into rescue operation and it not only rescued all the eight stranded fishermen, but also towed the boat to safety last night, the sources added.
