Cabinet approves subsidy on diesel in Bihar

Patna, Aug 17 (UNI) Bihar cabinet today approved the state government's decision to provide Rs ten subsidy on every litre of diesel to the farmers.

Giving green signal, the cabinet also approved advance payment of Rs 49.67 crores from the contingency fund for the purpose.

The farmers, dependent on tubewell for irrigation, would be entitled to avail the benefit at the rate of Rs 100 per acre.

Interested farmers would have to apply with a recommendation from ward member and the decision would be taken in the gram sabha meeting.

The gram sabha would hold meetings for three days and the dates would be announced later on. The farmers would get subsidy on the purchases made after August 15 from any authorised agency and on showing the receipt of the diesel bought. The subsidy would be given only once on a single crop.

Apart from this, the cabinet also approved establishment of a sugar complex at an expenditure of Rs 500 crore at Rasulpur village of Ekma block in Saran district. The cabinet sanctioned Rs 7.41 crores for reconstitution of 27 district industry centres and 11 newly established industry centres.
