Budget deficit led to debt burden for Mizos: Congress

Aizawl, Aug 17 (UNI) The Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) today alleged that the state's budget deficit of Rs 2,723 crore has put a debt burden of Rs 30,000 on every person in the state.

Addressing a campaign here, Congress legislator and MPCC treasurer R Lalzirliana alleged that misuse of funds resulted in the budget deficit.

''The ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) government's practice of diverting funds anywhere they wanted lead to financial problems for the state,'' Mr Lalzirliana said.

He alleged that favouritism in party ranks had contributed to the poverty of the people.
