BJP demands dissolution of State Govt
Kolhapur, Aug 17 (UNI) State Bharatiya Janata Party president Nitin Gadkari today demanded dissolution of the Maharashtra Government over allegations that Democratic Front Government had received largesse from multi-crore stamp-paper scam kingpin Abdul Karim Telgi.
A BJP deputation will shortly meet President A P J Abdul Kalam to press for the demand, Mr Gadkari said while addressing a press conference here today.
The BJP has demanded a probe by a retired Supreme Court judge into the CDs that contain transcripts of telephonic conversations between Telgi and others. The conversations allegedly indicate that Telgi had hosted Congress-NCP ministers and MLAs at Bangalore when the Government was facing collapse.
Mr Gadkari also alleged that the State Government had totally failed in providing proper relief to flood-affected people in the State. The flood situation in Western Maharashtra was a pointer to the Sate Government's inept planning, he charged.
