Bio-diesel based rains in Chhattisgarh

New Delhi, Aug 17 (UNI) The South Eastern central Railways has started bio-diesel based trains in Chhattisgarh, the Lok Sabha was told today.

Minister of State for Railway R Velu said in a written answer that since July 7, two nominated locos were hauling two different narrow gauge trains with 5 per cent blend of bio-diesel with high speed diesel between Raipur-Dhamtari narrow gauge section on a trial basis.

Wider use of bio-diesel depended upon the outcome of the limited trial in Chhattisgarh and availabililty of bio-diesel, the Minister said.

In reply to a question whether there was a scheme to run trains on bio-diesel in all parts of the state, the Minister replied in the negative.
