Advocates boycott court

Coimbatore, Aug 17 (UNI) Over 1600 advocates in the district boycotted the court proceedings seeking withdrawal of the High Court circular, which insisted on disposing of as many as 40 suits in a month.

The agitators said they would abstain from court proceedings tomorrow also.

The circular maintained that judgements should be pronounced at least on 30 cases and stressed that quality should not be compromised at the cost of quantity.

The protesters held that it was next to impossible and warned that if their demand was not taken into account, they would go on an indefinite strike.
