2 players from each team to be dope-tested during Champions Trophy

Mumbai, Aug 17 (UNI) In a bid to ensure that there is no scope for dope in cricket, the International Cricket Council (ICC) will test two players from each team from seven matches out of the total of 21 in the ensuing Champions Trophy to be played in India from October 5 to November 7.

''The selection of teams and players will be done randomly,'' ICC's Media and Communications Manager Brian Murgatroyd was quoted as saying on the official ICC website.

Since the ICC is now WADA (World Anti Doping Agency)-compliant, the testing will be done in line with their procedures, Murgatroyd said, adding the tests would be conducted by an agency contracted by ICC.

''The tests will be flown to Malaysia for analysis, as was the case during the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka earlier this year,'' he explained.

Meanwhile, Niranjan Shah secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stated earlier today that all 14 players of the Indian squad for the championship would be tested by the cricket board.
