Vice-President arriving in Sikkim on a three-day visit

Gangtok, Aug 16 (UNI) Vice-President Bhairon Singh Sekhawat will arrive in Sikkim on August 18 on a three day visit.

According to official sources, Mr Shekhawat, during his stay here, will lay the foundation stone of the new Raj Bhawan and inaugurate a flower show at the whitehall complex. He will also visit the National Institute of Tibetology and be given a public reception.

The existing Rajbhawan was declared unsafe after it developed cracks in earthquake that rocked the state recently.

The Vice-President is also scheduled to meet Governor R S Gavai and Chief Minister Pawan Chamling.

In addition to it Mr Shekhawat will visit the Lingdum monastery and the statue of Samdruptse.

He is also scheduled to attend a function organised by the Sai Asar Sewa Ashram at Silguri before leaving for New Delhi on August 20.
