School closed as lone teacher retires in orissa

Kendrapada, Aug 16: The Kalalanjuda Primary School under Chakoda Gogua Gram Panchayat of coastal Mahakalpada block in the district has been closed since the past fortnight as the lone teacher retired in July.

Since July 31 the school remained locked as the teacher, who was supposed to join in place of the retired one,is yet to turn up.

It has almost become a routine for the students now to come to the school,wait for sometime and then return home after playing in the school premises.

Although the villagers have brought the matter before the concerned authorities, the District Inspector of School has failed to appoint a teacher to run the school.

According to the retired teacher altogether 118 students from classes I to V were reading in the school.On Tuesday,the retired teacher of the school hoisted the national flag in the school after villagers requested him to observe the 60th Independence day in the school premises with the tiny tots.
