Sarpanch unfurls torn tricolour
Barwani, MP, Aug 16 (UNI) Police are on the lookout for this district's Malpha village sarpanch who unfurled a torn tricolour in front of the panchayat building on Independence Day despite being advised not to do so by teachers.
Police said a case was registered against Chhagan Barela following complaint by Shyam Patil's.
The national flag, having a roughly five-inch tear, was unfurled in the presence of teachers, students and other locals. When told not to unfurl a torn tricolour, Barela said an alternate flag would not reach the venue in time as road contact was affected by an overflowing nullah.
The sarpanch even said that he was unaware of any rule that prohibited unfurling of a torn tricolour.
