One dead in truck, car collusion in Nagaland

Kohima, Aug 16: One person was killed and four others were injured when a truck collided head-on with a car and both the vehicles were thrown below the National Highway 39 near Dimapur town last night.

Official sources said the accident occurred when the boulder laden truck failed to negotiate a bent and hit the car and in the impact both the vehicles rolled down the Highway.

All the five injured were rushed to Dimapur for medical treatment, but one of the labourer of the truck, identified as one Amir Khan (40) succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital. All the injured were admitted in Dimapur Civil Hospital and Private Nursing Homes.

Sources said the ill-fated truck was proceeding from Chumukedima to Dimapur town, while the car was proceeding from Dimapur towards Kohima. The driver of the truck was absconding and police investigation was on to ascertain the cause of the accident.
