Lottery draw snowballs into crisis in Arunachal

Itanagar, Aug 16 (UNI) A lottery draw has snowballed into a major crisis in Arunachal's capital, Itanagar, as hundreds of people today thronged the streets shouting slogans and demanding immediate withdrawal of the results declared here yesterday.

The angry citizens said today that the draw was not made as per the prescribed time and place. The committee has deliberately fooled the people by declaring the results on the Independence day, they alleged.

The draw was supposed to be held in the evening but the committee declared the results in the morning, they said.

The prizes of the lottery, include two JVC cars, two Chevrolet Travera, four Scorpio, eight Maruti Esteem and 16 Bajaj motorcycles.

The draw was scheduled on May 28 but due to unavoidable circumstances, it had to be fixed on August 15. The draw was organised in aid of Donyi Polo Vidya Bhawan, a reputed institution here.
