Kollur receives 10 cm rain

Bangalore, Aug 16 (UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded by the weather office at 0830 hrs here today.

Rainfall occurred at most places over coastal Karnataka and at a few places over interior Karnataka.

Heavy rainfall amounts (cm): Kollur 10; Sringeri 8; Yelandur, Siddapura 7 each.

Other rainfall amounts (cm): Gerusoppa, Joida, Kalasa, Kammardi, Koppa, Lakkavalli 5 each; Bantwal, Belthangadi, Puttur, Sulya, Sirsi, Khanapur, Thirthalli, Mudigere, Jayapura, Sakleshpura 4 each; Mani, Honavar, Belgaum, Napoklu, Virajpet, Hosanagar, Shikaripur 3 each.

Forecast valid until Friday morning: Rain/thundershowers likely to occur at most places over coastal Karnataka and at a few places over interior Karnataka.

Farmers bulletin: Moderate to heavy rain likely to occur at most places over Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada districts and at many places over Belgaum, Dharwad, Haveri, Shimoga, Chikmagalur and Kodagu districts. Light to moderate rain likely to occur at a few places over Hassan and Davanagere districts and at isolated places over remaining districts of the state.

The heavy rain may occur at isolated places over coastal Karnataka during next 48 hours.

Fisheries warning: Strong onshore winds mainly from Westerly to north-westerly direction speed occasionally reaching 45 to 55 kmph likely along off Karnataka coast during the next 24 hrs.

Forecast for Bangalore : Generally cloudy. A spell of light rain likely. Strong surface winds gusty at times.
