Janmashthami in Ujjain
Ujjain, MP, Aug 16 (UNI) Janmashthami is being celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety at Guru Sandipani Ashram and other places in this ancient temple town while the festival was celebrated yesterday at the Dwarkadhish shrine built during the Gwalior 'riyasat' era.
The ISKCON began three-day-long festivities yesterday at its Radha Madanmohan temple, constructed here two years back, and devotees from South Africa, London and other places arrived to take part.
Stringent security arrangements are in place at the shrine where police personnel are also deployed. ''Metal detectors and closed-circuit TV are part of the arrangements. Nandotsav is on the agenda tomorrow,'' said ISKCON PRO Raghav Pandit Das.
The Scindia family sponsored lights used to decorate the Dwarkadhish temple, also known as the Gopal shrine, situated right in the town's centre. It was built in 1909 as per the orders of Maharaja Daulatrao Scindia's queen Bayjabai Saheb.
