Janmashtami celebrated amid high security

New Delhi, Aug 16 (UNI) Amid unprecedented security, Janmashtami, the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, was celebrated today with pomp and gaiety in the Capital.

The Delhi Police had beefed up security at vital installations, including the at Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhawan, PM's residence and Delhi Metro in view of a perception of an impending terror strike.

A posse of police personnel was deployed in Delhi Metro cars to avert any untoward incidents.

The travellers were advised not to carry any liquid, including liquid lip-gloss, during their travel in the metro cars. The revellers were advised to keep a vigil on any unwanted objects on the trains.

Security was also increased in sensitive areas and near religious places.

Various temples and homes were beautifully decorated and people were seen performing 'dandia', singing bhajans praising the love between Krishna and his consort Radha.

People took out processions of 'jhankis' depicting scenes of Lord Krishna's birth, his childhood and other events.
