Israeli commission to probe Lebanon war failures
JERUSALEM, Aug 16 (Reuters) Israeli Defence Minister Amir Peretz today appointed a commission to investigate Israel's conduct in the war with Lebanon, a Peretz spokeswoman said.
The commission will be headed by a retired army chief and former government minister, three retired generals and the chairman of Israel's biggest company, Teva .
Peretz has charged the commission with investigating the performance of the military and the rest of the defence establishment before and during the 33-day campaign. A U.N.-brokered truce took effect on Monday.
Peretz has asked the commission to deliver an interim report within three weeks.
