IOL Broadband ties up with MTNL to offer IPTV content

New Delhi, Aug 16: IOL Broadband Ltd today announced that it has signed a content delivery network affiliation contract with MTNL, which will allow the MTNL customers to access Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) content.

As per the agreement, the company will have access to over 2,00,000 Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) broadband subscribers of MTNL.

MTNL has also plans to deploy over 1,000,000 ADSL modems in the next 24 months. With a Network Center and its own Metro Fiber Ethernet Network, the company has already interconnected its network with MTNL's ADSL network.

The service will include IPTV- Time Shifted Viewing and Video on Demand (VOD). Several hundred Hindi and Hollywood movies are expected to be made available on demand via MTNL network.

With the advent of IOL Broadband's IPTV/VOD service, India will join a select group of advanced countries where the services is available, a company statement said.

The company also has plans to deploy broadband interactive services in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and large corporate offices.
