IOC to organise kabaddi match in Beijing games

Jalandhar, Aug 16 (UNI) The International Olympic Committee has agreed to organise an exhibition Kabaddi match in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Asian Amateur Kabaddi Federation Joint Secretary Mohammad Reza Maghsodlov said today.

Talking to reporters here Mr Maghsodlov said that all formalities with the International Olympics Committee had been completed for organising this match during the next Olympics.

He said that this is a great success for the federation in its bid to get Kabaddi included in Olympic Games.

He hoped that the game mainly played in Asian countries, would soon be included in Olympics.

Mr Maghsodlov, who is also the president of Iran's national Kabbadi Association, was in India with a 14-member Iranian Kabaddi team, participating in the five match Goodwill series with Punjab state team.

The first match in the series will be held in Jalandhar on August 18 followed by at Zeerakpur(August 19), Ludhiana(August20), Sultanpur Lodhi(August 21) and Faridkot(August 22).
