Indian flight returns to base after mid-air technical snag

Chennai, Aug 16. (UNI) A Port Blair-bound Indian flight (IC 549) with 86 passengers and seven crew members on board, returned to the base, an hour after take -off from the Kamaraj Domestic airport here today.

Airport sources said one of the engine of the Airbus A320, which left at 0615 hrs developed a technical snag mid-air. The aircraft landed safely at 0715 hrs.

The authorities tried to set right the technical snag till 0900 hrs, but as their efforts failed, they asked all the passengers to alight from the flight.

While the authorities refunded the fare to those opting it, other passengers were asked to come to the airport to take their journey to Port Blair tomorrow, the sources added.
