Frame comprehensive policy for land acquisition: Digvijay
Hyderabad, Aug 16 (UNI) All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Digvijay Singh who is in charge of Andhra Pradesh, directed the government to frame a comprehensive policy for land acquisition around Hyderabad and assured the implementation of G O 610.
Briefing reporters after Election Manifesto Committee review meeting and Coordination Committee meeting of Government and PCC, Mr Singh said some farmers belonging to a nearby village of Hyderabad met him and explained their plight.
They have discussed, he said, the issues of farmers and acquisition of land on the outskirts of Hyderabad for implementation of projects like Outer Ring Road and other infrastructural projects.
''The farmers who are losing their lands should be compensated suitably. For this, a comprehensive policy should be framed and the Chief Minister is requested to frame it'', he added.
Referring to G O 610 (repatriation of employees of other regions from Telangana), the senior Congress leader said the government would take firm steps to implement the G O. Already 2,000 constables were recruited as per G O and 3,000 home guards would be recruited shortly.
About Hyderabad Drinking Water Scheme he said, the government would bring another 180 MGD from Godavai, if need be, to the city apart from the current prospects of 180 MGD from Krishna.
Referring to Pothireddypadu project, Mr Digvijay said the capacity of the Pothireddypadu regulator was increased from 11,000 cusecs to 40,000 cusecs.
