Gaya, Aug 16 (UNI) An FIR was lodged against some unidentified mediapersons of a private TV news channel for allegedly provoking a youth, Manoj Mishra, to commit self-immolation in Gaya on the occasion of Independence day.

Police Superintendent A K Jain said here today the FIR was lodged at the civil lines police station against a private TV news channel under section 306 IPC for aiding and abetting Mr Mishra to take up the extreme step.

He said the FIR had been made on the basis of a complaint by a guard of a private security agency posted there at the dairy farm.

However, the name of the news channel was not disclosed immediately.

Mr Jain said the mediapersons, who were aware of the plan of Mr Mishra, accompanied the youth and brought diesel and match box to execute his plan. The entire scene was shooted by the news channel and was later shown on the TV. He said the mediapersons did not try to save the youth from implementing the extreme plan.

Mr Mishra, a private transporter, frustrated with the dilly dalling attitude of the management of Sudha dairy farm had immolated himself in full public view infront of the farm even before hoisting of the flag on Independence day.

Meanwhile, Chairman and Managing Director of COMFED, Amir Subhani, today refuted the media reports that Manoj Mishra was in any way associated with Sudha Dairy Farm.

In a statement issued here, Mr Subhani said that Mr Mishra was neither staff nor transporter of the Sudha Dairy Farm. The deceased was reportedly a representative of ex-transporter Mr Uday Narain Pandey, whose contract was terminated by Gaya based Sudha Dairy Farm for his failure to perform satisfactorily and misbehaviour with office bearers of dairy cooperative societies.
