Fernandes for permanent closure of cola plant

Palakkad, Aug 16: Welcoming the Kerala Government's decision to ban the production and sales of Coca Cola and Pepsi in the state, former Defence Minister George Fernandes has sought permanent closure of the Coca Cola plant at Plachimada here.

Addressing the anti-Cola protestors in front of the Coca Cola plant at Plachimada yesterday, he said that the agitations against the Coca Cola plant would continue till the people in the region got compensation and relief.

Stating that the management's attitude retaliating against the agitators raised serious concerns, he said if needed the agitation would be taken to New Delhi also.

Mr Fernandes appreciated the protestors for waging a long struggle against the soft drink giant from 2002.
