Combined Districts XI wins over Maha, gains 8 points

Chennai, Aug 16 (UNI) Combined Districts XI just took 20.3 overs on the final day to complete the formalities and notched up an eight-wicket win over Maharashtra in the Mindteck Buchibabu All India Invitation cricket tournament here today.

At the Mayajaal grounds, Districts, set a modest target, finished at 104 for two in 28.3 overs to complete an emphatic win and gained eight points.

Resuming at 25 for no loss in eight overs, Districts lost both the openers K Varunkuamr 926, 65 balls, 3x4) and V Devendran (20, 46 balls, 1x6) and were 63 for two.

However, R Srinivasan (26) and R Satish (25) knocked off the runs with ease, adding 41 runs in 7.1 overs for the unfinished third wicket.

Brief scores: Maharashtra 118 and 133 lost to Combined districts XI 148 and 104 for two in 28.3 overs (V Devendran 20, K Varun Kumar 26, R Srinivasan 26 not out, R Satish 25 not out).
