Centre making efforts to find a solution to illegal stay issue

Chennai, Aug 16 (UNI) The Centre is making all efforts to find an amicable solution to the issue of the illegal stay by Indians in Malaysia, Union Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi said today.

He told newspersons at airport here on his arrival that he visited Malaysia to hold discussions with the Malaysian authorities.

The discussions were fruitful. The Malysian authorities had also agreed to hold discussions with the Centre in New Delhi in November.

A delegation led by a Malaysian minister will visit India, he added.

To a question he said since the situation in the war torn Lebanon was improving, there were no fresh requests from Indians there for safe return home. The Indian Government had brought about 2000 Indians here, he added.
