Blast at ISKCON complex in Imphal, ten injure

Imphal, Aug 16 (UNI) At least ten people were injured, three of them seriously, when a powerful bomb went off during a congregation where more than 1,000 people were offering prayers to mark Janmashtami, the birth of Lord Krishna, here this evening.

Police said a powerful blast was triggered in front of the Lord Krishna temple at the ISKCON complex near here at 1900 hrs when people were offering prayers during the evening puja.

They said at least ten people, including some women, were injured in the blast. They were taken to Regional Institute of Medical Science hospital where the condition of three of them, including a girl, was critical.

No one was arrested in this connection. Police cordoned off the area to launch a combing operation.

No organisation has so far claimed the responsibility for the blast.
