Asom students to raise demand for separate state
New Delhi, Aug 16 (UNI) Students from Karbi-Anglong in Asom will hold a demonstration at Jantar Mantar here tomorrow, demanding the creation of a new state comprising six hilly districts.
The students, who have already reached Delhi, will press for their long pending demand for the creation of a new state out of six hilly districts from Asom -- Nawgao, Karbi-Anglong, Cachar, Haila Kandi, Karimganj and North Cachar.
Convenor of People's Consultative Group Revati Phukan will be in the city tomorrow to hold a dialogue with Union Home Secretary V K Duggal for initiating direct talks between ULFA and the Centre.
