Action against 2 policemen in Narora case
Lucknow, Aug 16: Bulandshahr police has suspended a policeman, while the officer-in-charge of Narora police station was attached to the police lines following the arrest of four workers at the Narora Atomic Power Plant for entering a restricted area without proper papers.
Police sources said constable Manish Kumar has been suspended while the officer-in-charge of Narora police station A P Singh has been ''sent'' to police lines.
Meanwhile, police have registered cases against the four people for giving fake addresses to the authorities.
After prolonged interrogations, officials denied the accused had links with any terrorist organisation.
Four workers, identified as Waseem, Shakir, Mohd Jan (all residents of Aligarh) and Dharamvir (a local resident) were arrested on grounds of suspicion on Monday night as they were attempting to enter a restricted area.
Dharamvir has a prior police record, police said.
The Uttar Pradesh government had on Friday called the Army on standby for the sensitive power unit.
Around 100 army personnel (one column) were deployed in Narora that evening while another column of troops joined them the next day.
The Army had also deployed anti-aircraft units around the plant to thwart any terrorist attack.
