'Accenture' to develop BCCI portal

Chennai, Aug 16 (UNI)The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed the multinational management consulting and technology services company Accenture to develop its web portal, BCCI marketing committee Chairman Lalit Modi announced here today.

Briefing newspersons on the decisions of the committee for various marketing initiatives approved by the working committee on the concluding day of the BCCI's two-day special general body here, Mr Modi said Accenture will go forward with the task of developing the portal.

He said percept D'mark has been given the rights for BCCI's Domestic Ratings and Awards and Awards night programme, for five years.

This pertains to rating of domestic players and honouring the best with awards. As per this, 72 days of domestic cricket will be telecast live while 20 days would be allotted for other competitions like the Challenger and Deodhar trophy matches to assess the players for the awards.

Mr Modi also announced that an external agency will be appointed to to recover counterfiets of products of the BCCI like DVDS and clothings being circulated in the other cricket playing countries, as discovered on websites like 'cricinfo'.

''The BCCI will buy them back and build up an archives,'' Mr Modi said.

He also announced that retail giant Pantaloons had been given a Rs 20 Crore contract to provide the formal BCCI wear for the players. The contract has been given for a period of four years.
