AAPSU delegates call on HRD minister on RGU conversion
Itanagar, Aug 16 (UNI) A delegation of All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) has called on Union HRD Minister Arjun Singh and pleaded him for early conversion of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) into a central varsity.
Addressing mediapersons here this evening, president of the apex students' organisation Mr Kanu Bagang informed that the delegates were happy over the commitment of the minister and his sincere efforts to convert RGU into a central university, which the students' body had been demanding.
''The bill for conversion of RGU had already been introduced in the Rajya Sabha recently and the same was supposed to be tabled in the Lok Sabha on August 7. However, due to some unavoidable circumstances, the bill could not be introduced,'' Mr Bagang informed and hoped that the same would be introduced in the current session of the Parliament.
The AAPSU delegation, during its stay in New Delhi from August 4 to 11, also met Union Tribal Affairs Minister P R Kyandiah and all the MP's from Aurnachal Pradesh. AAPSU has urged them to facilitate the passing of the bill in the Parliament without sending it to the standing committee, Mr Bagang added.
