A Jawan, two youth injured in grenade attacks

Jammu, Aug 16: An army jawan and two civilians were injured in two incidents in Rajouri and Poonch districts while security forces recovered a consignment of explosive devices including a 2.5 kg IED from Chowadi in Sunjwan area on the outskirts of the city in Jammu and Kashmir last night.

Police said the first incident took place at Phagnai in Rajouri district when militants hurled a grenade at two motorcycle borne youths.

They were admitted to a local hospital from where they were referred to the Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH). Their condition was reported to be critical.

The injured youths have been identified as Rizwan (27) and Rashid Ahmed (32). The security personnel have started search operations in the area to nab the militants.

In another incident in Poonch, an army jawan was injured in an IED blast at Dogian, Surankote in Poonch district. The jawan was admitted to a hospital.

The security forces have recovered one IED, weighing 2.5 kg, three electronic detonators, one Chinese calibre mouser along with a magazine, seven pistol rounds and 10 rounds of 7.62 ammunition. The Sunjwan brigade recovered a consignment of explosives from Chowadi in Sunjwan area on the outskirts of the city last night.
