Three arrested under Arms Act
Ludhiana, Aug 15 (UNI) Punjab Police today arrested three activists of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), inlcuding a former militant Palwinder Singh, at Doraha in the district.
The two persons were going to attend the party's political rally at Isru in the district when they were arrested under section 25 of the Arms Act, Khanna police district chief SSP M F Farooqi told UNI here.
The two other arrested were identified as Jaspal Singh and Malkiat Singh.
They were arrested at Doraha check post after they failed to produce the licence of any of the three fire arms were carrying, SSP said.
A point 12 bore rifle, a 312 bore gun and a revolver were recovered from their possession.
Palwinder had informed the police that he had been behind bars for 13 years under the erstwhile TADA Act.
