Rio appeals insurgents to stop killing

Kohima, Aug 15 (UNI) Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, on the 60th Independence day today, asserted that maintenance of law and order is the top priority of his government.

He appealed to the insurgent groups to faithfully abide by the cease-fire ground rules to stop fratricide and bloodshed here.

Unfurling the Tricolour flag at the secretariat ground here, Mr Rio said despite several constraints the state had undergone tremendous progress.

He welcomed the extension of cease-fire between the Centre and the NSCN and said this would pave way for the economic developments in the state.

He further expressed his gratitude to the Hohos, churches and members of the civil socities for their continued efforts to restore peace here.

Giving detailed accounts of the development activities carried by the goverment, Mr Rio said hard work, commitment and vision would make the state more developed.
