Kohima, Aug 15: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, on the 60th Independence day today, asserted that maintenance of law and order is the top priority of his government.

On this day he had appealed to the insurgent groups to faithfully abide by the cease-fire ground rules to stop fratricide and bloodshed here.

Unfurling the Tricolour flag at the secretariat ground here, Mr Rio said despite several constraints the state had undergone tremendous progress.

The Nagas have been stuggling for the solution to the long pending Naga political issue and sincere attempts were taken by the government to solve the problems, he said.

He welcomed the extension of cease-fire between the Centre and the NSCN and said that this would pave way for the economic developments in the state.

He further expressed his gratitude to the Hohos, churches and members of the civil socities for their continued efforts to restore peace here.

Giving detailed accounts of the development activities carried by the goverment, Mr Rio said hard work, commitment and vision would make the state more developed.
