Pakistani Militant Killed
Jammu, Aug 15 (UNI) Security forces, in a fierce encounter in a school's premises, gunned down a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) operative, while two army jawans were injured in the operation in Chrung, a village in Thanna Mandi area of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.
The sources further said there were reports of some of the militants having planned to move towards Rajouri and carry out an attack on Independence Day in the district.
The army and Jammu Kashmir police had to exercise caution, as a nursery school was located very close to the militants' hideout.
About 100 children, besides staff members, were present in the school at that moment. The security personnel, in the more than two hours' operation, evacuated the school building since it was caught in the militant's firing.
Two army jawans, identified as Ashok Kumar and Dinesh Kumar, were injured in the attack. They were admitted to an army hospital.
In the process, one militant was killed while his associate managed to escape. He was trapped till late last night. The slain militant is yet to be identified, but official sources said he was a Pakistani national.
