India won't pull out of series: BCCI secretary
Chennai, Aug 15 (UNI) BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah today reiterated India will not pull out of the triangular series, being played in Sri Lanka, in the wake of yesterday's bomb blast near the team hotel in Colombo.
In a brief chat with reporters after the first day of the two- day BCCI Special General Body meet he said, ''India will not pull out of the tri-series, in which South Africa is the third team''.
However, South Africa's position was being thrashed out between the Cricket Boards of South Africa and Sri Lanka. ''We will know about it by this evening'', he added.
Asked if ICC had any role in deciding the fate of the tri-series, Mr Shah said ICC only played a recommendatory role.
Asked if the BCCI would work out a three match or five match series if the Proteas pulled out of the tri-series, he said, ''we will have to wait and see''.
The Indian cricket team went for net practice today, but they had to return to the hotel due to rains.
Providing security to the team was the responsibility of the Sri Lankan Board, he said, when asked about recurrence of such blasts.
