Haryana CM announces DA for freedom fighters, other sops
Gurgaon, Aug 15 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announced dearness allowance for the freedom fighters getting pensions in the state on the pattern of the Central Government in accordance with the existing price index.
Besides the DA for the freedom fighters, Mr Hooda also announced hike in the financial assistance for the marriage of the martyrs' daughters from Rs 6,000 to Rs 11,000 and also hike in the scholarship for the children of the ex-servicemen to double the amount.
The Chief Minister made these announcements in his speech which he delivered after unfurling the national flag on the occasion here.
Paying tributes to the known and unknown martyrs and freedom fighters, he said the the country attained independence because of their innumerable sacrifices and constant struggle under the leadership of the Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi.
''Our country made phenomenal progress in every field of human development due to timely guidance and hard work put up by our national leaders like Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Mrs Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and others,'' he said.
The Chief Minister said Haryana had also made its contribution in making the national freedom struggle a big success and in this contant struggle for freedom the role of the people from districts of Gurgaon, Rewari and Mahendragarh had been very remarkable and praiseworthy. He said we were proud of the fact that every 10th soldier in the Indian Army is from Haryana and maximum soldiers in the INA of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose were also from our state.
He said during the past one and half years, Haryana set many landmarks in the field of development with its innovative vision and new development schemes for uplifting the social, economic and educational status of the people belonging to every section of the society.
Mr Hooda said Haryana was second to none in the country in providing maximum facilities and concessions to the people belonging to the weaker sections, women, the senior citizens, children, disabled, martyrs, serving militry personnel, ex-servicemen, war widows, freedom fighters and their dependents.
He said the Global city of Gurgaon has become a show window not only for the country but also for the world and credit of this big change for this city goes to the founder of Haryana and former Prime Minister Smt Indira Gandhi. This city has become the first choice of the world reputed multi-national companies for investment in various industrial ventures.
The Haryana government had already spent Rs 300 crore on the development of this mega city and an amount of Rs 776 crore would be spent for providing improved infrastructure to this IT and software prone city during the next three years, the chief minsiter said.
