Govt failed to sound flood alert: Naidu
Rajahmundry, Aug 15 (UNI) Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu today alleged that Andhra Pradesh Government had failed to alert the people ahead of floods.
During his visit to the flood-hit Devipatnam mandal where six tribal hamlets bore the brunt, he told reporters that the government machinary failed to ensure rescue and relief operations.
Accusing the government in the distribution of special grants on account of flood he said, the government was yet to disburse the money.
Speaking on the Polavaram Dam, Mr Naidu said there was no need for parallal canals. Describing the flood as man-made he said, the government had failed in taking out precautionary measures ahead of the tragedy.
Mr Naidu toured the eight tribal hamlets and distributed five kg rice, candles, dhoti, saree and bedsheets to the people there.
