General strike on I-Day peacefully in Kashmir
Srinagar, Aug 15 (UNI) The general strike called by several separatist organisations, including both the factions of the Hurriyat Conference, on Independence Day today went off peacefully in the entire Kashmir valley.
Being a national holiday, all government offices, educational institutions, banks, shops and business establishments were closed for the day.
However, the major impact of the strike was seen on public transport as no vehicle plied on the roads.
Several separatist organisations had called for the general strike and observed the Independence Day as ''black day''.
However, no untoward and violent incident has been reported from anywhere in the Valley so far.
