Former Haryana DGP chargesheeted in molestation case

Patiala, Aug 15 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet against former Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) S P S Rathore in a molestation case at the special CBI court here.

The CBI has stated in its chargesheet that Rathore allegedly molested a 14-year old player, Ruchika Girothra, at the Haryana Lawn Tennis Association president's office in Panchkula on August 12, 1990 when he was the president of the Association.

Ruchika had allegedly committed suicide on December 29, 1993.

It was alleged that Rathore molested Ms Ruchika in his Haryana Lawn Tennis Association office after securing her presence on the pretext of discussions on arrangements for extra facilities to promote Ruchika's career.

The CBI, in its chargesheet, stated ''on entering the office Ms Aradhana, alias Reemu, the witness in the case, found that the accused was holding one hand of Ruchika while his other hand was around her waist while Ruchika was trying to free herself by pushing the accused with her other free hand.

On seeing Ms Reemu, the accused got nervous, released Ruchika and sat back in his chair.

The accused then again molested the teen-age player, after sending the eyewitness out on some pretext, the chargesheet added.

The chargesheet further stated that the Haryana police had recorded the statement of Ruchika during the inverstigations of the case at Panchkula police station, before the girl allegedly committed suicide. .

The girl had consumed poison on December 12, 1993 and died on December 29, 1993.

The CBI today produced 22 documents and a list of 21 witnesses to establish the chargesheet. The court has fixed September 18 for the next hearing.
