BJP expresses disappointment over PM speech
New Delhi, Aug 15: The BJP today expressed disappointment over what it described Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's ''terrorist and separtists friendly speech'' from the ramparts of the Red Fort at a time when the country was expecting a strong response against terrorism.
Party's vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, in his reaction to the speech, said it was unfortunate that Dr Singh seemed to offer a bouquet of flowers to Pakistan, which was aiding and abetting terrorist forces through liberal supply of arms, ammunition and grenades to be used against the people of India.
Mr Naqvi said terrorism and price rise were the twin issues that haunted every household of the country but the PM did not offer citizens any relief apart from promising to tackle them in a firm manner. He also did not reveal any plan to contain the spiralling prices.
He alleged that the PM had misled the country on petroleum prices when it was well-known that UPA government had hiked the prices 8 times after his government took over.
He said the PM had spoken about the SEZ and modernisation of airports for improving infrastructure but said nothing about bringing relief to the comman man.
