Bhima eases further, Krishna continues to rise in Karnataka
Bangalore, Aug 15 (UNI) The death toll in the ravaging floods in North Karnataka rose to nine, as a 50-year-old street vendor was washed away in swolen Bhima river in Gulbarga district today.
Revenue officials said Mohammed Abdul was washed away while crossing a rivulet caused by the overflowing Bhima river while he was on his way to his village Devaganganpur. His body was yet to be traced.
Meanwhile, the flood situation in the areas coming under river Bhima eased further following reduction in the discharge from upstream dams in Maharashtra, while the flood situation remained grim in other parts of North Karnataka with river Krishna still in spate.
