Bangladesh hails UNSC resolution 1701 concerning Lebanon

Dhaka, Aug 15 (UNI) Bangladesh today welcomed the UN Security Council resolution 1701 on the present crisis in Lebanon with a hope that it would pave the way for permanent peace in West Asia.

A spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry today said the Bangladesh government hoped that all concerned would abide by the provisions of the resolution and immediately cease all hostilities, and that the sovereignty of Lebanon would not be violated again.

He hoped that cessation of hostilities will enable the much-needed humanitarian assistance reach the affected people.

The Bangladesh government further believes that the ceasefire will pave the way for a lasting and durable peace in the West Asia, the spokesperson added.
